Police are investigating after a fire ripped through a Portsmouth home this morning. Five people escaped the house fire and three of those had to be rescued by firefighters.

25 firefighters attended the scene and battled the blaze from 04:15 until 05:00 on Monday 31st March 2014. The crews from Cosham, Havant and Southsea used six breathing apparatus, two hose reels and one jet to extinguish it

Two people from the blaze suffered smoke inhalation and one was taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown and police are investigating.
