A fire extinguisher can be a life saving piece of equipment and therefore it is essential they receive regular attention and maintenance. If serviced regularly by a competent engineer your extinguishers will provide longer lasting and more efficient fire protection.
Design and Installation
A fire risk assessment will help identify what fire equipment is needed on your premises and where. Uni-Guard Fire Protection will provide a survey free of charge to establish exactly what you need and where your equipment should be located.
Once the fire extinguishers have been installed we can provide a short demonstration explaining and showing you how to use the extinguishers in the event of a fire. A log book can also be provided which is required to record all extinguisher tests and services. All extinguishers are serviced in accordance with BS 5306 code of practice and a Certificate is issued on completion of all works carried out.
Servicing and Maintenance
Fire extinguishers require an annual service in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. They also require an extended service every 5 years and CO2 extinguishers require an extended service every 10 years.
We will visit you once a year at a convenient time for you to service all the extinguishers at your property in accordance with BS 5306 code of practice. Extinguishers should be inspected regularly by the nominated responsible person for the property.
If the extinguisher has been tampered with or damaged in any way it is advisable that a service technician is called to ensure the extinguisher is in working order should it be needed in a fire.
